A real lambskin is a natural product that will be with you for many years if you give it a little attention. This is all you need to do.
1. Shake it out
Shake the lambskin out outdoors a few times a week. This removes dust, crumbs and loose hairs.
2. Brush it
Brush long-wool lambskins every few weeks with a lambskin brush. Always brush in the direction the wool grows and tease out any matted areas carefully.
3. Air it
Hang the lambskin outside in the shade from time to time. In the fresh air, wool largely cleans itself.
4. Stains
Dab stains off straight away with a damp cloth and a drop of mild wool detergent. Never rub, never use hot water.
What you should avoid
- Washing machine and tumble dryer
- Rain and wet surfaces: the leather side can become stiff
- Direct sunlight: dyed lambskins can fade
An extra tip for your woollens
Blankets, jumpers and other wool textiles dry faster and come out nice and soft in the tumble dryer with wool dryer balls – but the lambskin itself never belongs in the tumble dryer.
