This lambskin made specially for babies comes from New Zealand and offers premium quality. It is particularly dense and soft and has been gently tanned – perfect for delicate baby skin and ideal for use in the pram.

The lambskin is medically tanned so that it is odour-neutral, clean and fabulously soft. Medical tanning also means that you can wash the lambskin in the washing machine when needed. This tanning gives the lambskin its slightly yellowish base tone – yet for a baby lambskin it is always the best choice.

Use

The baby lambskin is versatile: lay it on the floor to give your baby a cosy, warm place to play, or use it in the baby chair or the pram. Always lay the lambskin flat and free of creases, and never leave your baby to sleep on a lambskin unsupervised.

Care

A real lambskin is easy to care for – and that is especially true of the baby lambskin. Shake the lambskin out regularly and brush it now and then. Remove stains with a damp cloth or a little wool detergent.

Should it ever be necessary, you can wash the lambskin at 30 °C with a wool detergent containing lanolin and then spin it. We recommend this only in exceptional cases, as washing can make the leather stiffer. A real lambskin must never go in the tumble dryer: leave it to dry wool side down on a clothes airer in a well-ventilated room, pull it back into shape regularly as it dries and brush the wool through afterwards.

Origin and sustainability

The baby lambskin is a merino lambskin from New Zealand. Merino sheep are known for their particularly soft wool, and in New Zealand the animals graze freely on hills and in valleys. Every lambskin is a by-product of local meat production and is carefully processed out of respect for the animal.

The lambskins are tanned with salts and stored in salt to avoid harmful chemicals. More than 90% of the water used in production is recycled, and all of the water is cleaned before it is returned to the environment.
